LCGS, Paper 2, Exam 2

Paper 2 is the non-verbal half of the Lincolnshire entrance test, and it's the paper most families underestimate. 70 multiple-choice questions in 35 minutes, split into five separately-timed sections: two standard GL Non-Verbal Reasoning sections and, unusually, three dedicated Spatial Reasoning sections.
 
That spatial weighting is the distinctive feature of the Lincolnshire exam. Most GL exams treat spatial as a small bolt-on to NVR, typically 4 to 8 questions inside a much larger reasoning paper. Lincolnshire treats it as a subject in its own right: three full sections of dedicated spatial content, 42 questions out of 70 — well over half the paper. That is a far higher spatial weight than most children will meet in generic 11+ practice, and the type of spatial content is unusual too.
 
The two NVR sections cover classic GL code-cracking and pattern work: shape codes, where a letter code must be decoded from example figures and applied to a new one, and series, where the next figure in a changing sequence has to be found. The three spatial sections are where the paper earns its reputation: rotation questions, where the only correct option is the given figure turned — not flipped; cube nets, where a flat net must be folded in the mind's eye to match a 3D cube; and shape logic, where two shapes combine edge-to-edge into a single target outline, or a jigsaw-style missing piece must be identified from close alternatives.
 
All three spatial types are demanding to eye and hand together and benefit from targeted drilling that off-the-shelf 11+ material rarely includes.
